Most Twitter users find people and follow them. Remember that the more people you follow, the more followers you get. Many of your followers will stop following you if all you do is following others and not providing any value. Following/follower ratio is very important, so make sure you do not follow too many people while having little followers as it will make you look like a scammer and no one will follow you.
Tip 1 – Follow to get followed, but take it easy. Make sure you do not follow too many people a day. 1-1 is perfect for your following /followers ratio. Be reasonable and if you follow 100 people and have 100 followers do not try to follow 100 more in a day, do it rather over a week or even more.
Tip 2 – Provide others with values, share information and interesting stuff. Share links to interesting websites. Participate in discussions and conversations.
Tip 3 – Do not leave your bio and picture empty. If there is nothing to see in your profile people will not have a chance to get curious. Share some information about you and add a picture that shows you. People like to know who they talk to.
Tip 4 – Create a website or start blogging. You can tell people more about yourself in your blog on on your website. It is a great way to show your personality in more details than in the short bio in Twitter profile.
Tip 5 – Make sure you always reply to your followers and retweet all the valuable info you find. When your followers do the same to you, your name will be visible to their followers.
Tip 6 – Always participate in a Twitter party. Go to every Twitter meetup organized in your area. Many new followers can be found there.
Tip 7 – Share your Twitter username on your social networks, on the forums and blogs, get listed in Twitter directories.
Tip 8 – Do not pretend to be someone else, be yourself. Express your feelings, speak openly. An interesting opinion will get retweeted and will make your name appear to others. Be an individual, personalize your profile, change colors and background.
Tip 9 – Tweet often. Do not feel like you have to tweet 24/7, but try to do it every day. Not updating your profile, might result in people stop following you.
Tip 10 – Make sure all of the above are balanced. Don’t only talk about yourself as it will get people tired of you. Remember to provide your followers with value, so try to limit messages about yourself to just 1 or 2 a day.
